Careers

We’re a small team,
building the trip
we’d want to take.

Cimara is early — a handful of trips launched, a founder still doing enquiries by hand. We’re hiring the people who’ll design those trips and run them properly once they’re sold: Trip Designers, and Travel Operations. Based in Udaipur, in the studio — with pay that’s competitive for the stage we’re at.

Why here

What working here is actually like.

Founding-team ownership

We've shipped the catalog and the site. Everything else — how we sell, how we fulfil, how we hire the next ten people — is still being decided. You'll decide a real piece of it.

A small studio, on purpose

A handful of people today, not a call centre. You'll know every live trip and every client by name for a long while yet.

Built around one clear idea

Private trips, honestly priced, designed by someone who has actually been there. If that idea makes sense to you, the day-to-day will too.

Real variety, real speed

No department silos to hide behind at this size. A Trip Designer talks to Operations directly; Operations talks to the founder directly. Decisions happen in hours, not committees.

Open roles

Four roles, two teams.

Don’t see the right fit but think you should be here anyway? Write to us — we mean that.

Sales & Design

Trip DesignerUdaipur (in-studio) · Full-time · 2–5 years

The person a couple or family actually talks to — from the first WhatsApp message to the itinerary they say yes to. Part consultative sales, part travel designer.

At Cimara, there is no separate "salesperson" handing off to a separate "planner." The Trip Designer is both — you own the relationship end to end, for the Curated tier (₹1.5–4L per person) across couples, families and friend groups. You are measured on trips designed and booked, not on calls logged.

CompensationCompetitive fixed pay, benchmarked to experience, plus a per-trip commission on closed bookings.

What you’ll do

  • Respond to enquiries within hours, not days — read the traveller profile or quiz output and understand who is actually travelling and why.
  • Design a first itinerary as considered prose, not a templated PDF, and refine it through two or three rounds until the traveller says it feels like theirs.
  • Own the sales conversation honestly: quote a real, all-in number, hold the line on what is and isn't included, and close without discount-chasing.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to confirm inventory, hold rooms during decision windows, and get deposits collected on time.
  • Stay the traveller's one point of contact through departure — including answering the odd question mid-trip if Operations needs backup.
  • Build first-hand knowledge of at least two destinations in the catalog through your own travel, tastings, and supplier visits.

What we’re looking for

  • Has actually travelled internationally, independently, more than once — this is non-negotiable, not a nice-to-have.
  • Excellent written English; can write a paragraph a discerning traveller would want to keep reading.
  • Comfortable holding a sales conversation about a ₹2–7L purchase without over-promising or over-discounting.
  • Organised enough to run six live itineraries at different stages at once without dropping a thread.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Udaipur.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience at a travel company, DMC, hospitality brand, or premium consumer brand in a client-facing role.
  • A destination you know disproportionately well — a country you have visited five-plus times, lived in, or studied.
  • Comfortable on WhatsApp voice notes as a working medium, not just email.

Senior Trip DesignerUdaipur (in-studio) · Full-time · 5+ years

Signature tier (₹4–7L per person) and our highest-AOV accounts — founders, operators, NRIs. Fewer trips, more depth, more judgment calls.

Signature clients are buying discretion and access as much as itinerary — the room everyone wants, the table that doesn't take reservations, a plan that survives a founder's calendar changing twice in a week. This role carries our most demanding accounts and sets the bar the wider Trip Designer team is trained against.

CompensationCompetitive fixed pay plus commission on Signature-tier closes — among the highest-paying roles on the team.

What you’ll do

  • Run the full arc — enquiry, design, close, and on-trip ownership — for our highest-value private departures.
  • Build and maintain direct relationships with a shortlist of specialist ground partners and guides in two or three signature destinations.
  • Handle last-minute change requests — a flight moved, a parent joining, a proposal to plan around — without losing composure or margin.
  • Mentor incoming Trip Designers on itinerary writing, quoting discipline, and how to say no to a request gracefully.
  • Feed pricing and inventory feedback back to the founder as the catalog and Signature tier evolve.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years in a client-facing role in luxury hospitality, premium travel, or a comparable high-touch consumer service — or an unusually strong equivalent track record.
  • Personal travel experience across at least two of: Japan, East Africa, Iceland/Nordics, the Mediterranean.
  • Demonstrated judgment handling high-stakes, high-expectation clients under time pressure.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Udaipur.

Nice to have

  • Existing relationships with DMCs, boutique hotels, or specialist guides in our launch destinations.
  • Experience training or mentoring a small sales team.

Travel Operations

Travel Operations ManagerUdaipur (in-studio) · Full-time · 4–7 years

Owns everything between "the client said yes" and "the client is home safely" — supplier relationships, bookings, documentation, and on-ground quality.

Cimara runs on manual fulfillment through a network of B2B inventory partners, activity and experience partners, an air ticketing consolidator, and destination specialists across our launch markets — the specific partners are confidential and covered in detail once you're through the process. This role is the person who makes that stack actually work — reliably, at the standard our pricing promises, without an ops platform to lean on yet.

CompensationCompetitive, benchmarked to experience, with upside tied to the margin you help unlock through supplier negotiation.

What you’ll do

  • Own supplier relationships across B2B inventory partners, activity and experience partners, our air consolidator, and destination specialists.
  • Convert a confirmed itinerary into real bookings — hotels, transfers, guides, activities, flights — with correct documentation and no gaps.
  • Build and maintain a fulfillment checklist and quality bar so nothing ships that wouldn't meet a Trip Designer's promise to the client.
  • Negotiate rates and terms with suppliers as volume grows; flag margin risk on trips before they're booked, not after.
  • Manage the on-trip escalation path — visas, insurance, and the inevitable flight change or hotel downgrade — in coordination with the assigned Trip Designer.
  • Set up the operational processes (supplier scorecards, booking trackers, SOPs) that a growing ops team will run on in Phase 2.

What we’re looking for

  • 4+ years in travel operations, DMC operations, or destination management — B2B inventory systems, not just OTA booking.
  • Working knowledge of B2B travel inventory platforms, activity-partner booking portals, and consolidator air ticketing.
  • Meticulous with documentation — visas, insurance, vouchers, itinerary-to-booking reconciliation.
  • Calm under a live, on-trip problem with a client's honeymoon on the line.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Udaipur.

Nice to have

  • Direct DMC relationships in any of our launch destinations: Japan, Kenya, Iceland, Vietnam, Croatia, Greece, or Indonesia.
  • Experience setting up ops processes at an early-stage travel or hospitality company.

Travel Operations AssociateUdaipur (in-studio) · Full-time · 0–2 years

The hands-on execution role — booking confirmations, documentation, and the WhatsApp thread that keeps a family's trip running smoothly while they're away.

Reporting to the Travel Operations Manager, this is where most people learn the travel business end to end at Cimara. Strong performers here are a natural pipeline into Trip Designer or senior ops roles as we grow.

CompensationCompetitive for the role and stage, with a clear path to a raise as you take on more of the fulfillment stack.

What you’ll do

  • Execute bookings across hotels, transfers, activities and flights once an itinerary is confirmed, following the fulfillment checklist.
  • Keep the booking tracker, vouchers, and visa/insurance documentation accurate and current for every live trip.
  • Staff the on-trip WhatsApp line during live departures — reconfirm pickups, chase a supplier, escalate anything that needs the Operations Manager or Trip Designer.
  • Reconcile supplier invoices against what was actually booked and flag discrepancies.
  • Help maintain supplier contact sheets and rate cards as the destination list grows.

What we’re looking for

  • Sharp attention to detail — this role is the last line of defence against a booking error reaching a client.
  • Comfortable working across WhatsApp, email, and spreadsheets simultaneously, often outside standard hours during live departures.
  • Clear written English for supplier and client-facing communication.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Udaipur.

Nice to have

  • A prior internship or short stint in travel, hospitality, or a fast-moving operations role.
  • Basic familiarity with any B2B travel booking portal.

How we hire

Four steps. No black box.

01

A short written note

Tell us which role, and — genuinely — one trip you've taken that you'd design differently if you were running it.

02

A conversation

45 minutes, usually with the founder directly at this stage. Less interview, more “would we work well together.”

03

A real scenario

For Sales & Design roles: design a short itinerary from a sample brief. For Operations roles: work through a live fulfillment problem. Paid where it takes real time.

04

Decision, fast

We aim to close the loop within a week either way. No five-round processes — we don't have the headcount to run them, and wouldn't want to.
